Hey Chris, heres a few pics from our 2 and a half day Astoria Trip.

Didn’t get as many as I’d like to but the few I got are pretty sweet. Friday we fished 3 rods and got our first two nooks within a couple minutes of dropping in, then we had to work for about an hour to get number 3. After that we went shallow and tried to find some Coho but only managed one small native and a couple others lost.

For guys like us this set the bar pretty high by our standards so I was a little anxious about day two. Saturday we started at the bridge again at High slack trolling downstream with 5 rods in the water. It proved difficult managing all those lines but we got the hang of it after a few nasty tangles(I have no idea how all the guides run 7 lines!).

We never really got into a fast and furious bite but it seemed every half an hour or so we hooked up, so we ground out the morning and had our chinook by 10:00 and later on manged a big hatchery silver as well, and another native released. The fish really wanted hardware today so I fed them a steady diet of pink/white metal.

On Sunday we had to be off the water by 10:00am to break camp so we had to get the job done in a hurry. They seemed to want Herring this day as the only rod in the boat running it got creamed 3 times in the first 15 minutes. we worked the last part of the incoming in the fog along the greenline and found a good coho bite retaining a small clipped fish.

By 8:00 we only had 1 coho in the box with 2 hours left and 4 nooks to kill, so we ran up to the bridge again for the start of the outgoing and put our lines down. As we had the 2 days prior, we found 25′ to 30′ of water and pounded it hard, scratching out our 4th nook with 10 minutes left in our day.

Epic trip by “Team B Squad” standards, plus great times with Dad, the Bro-in-Law, and friends. Enjoy the pics!

Thanks,

Capt. Jack
