Elmer Fudd

“Had a good day on the John Day.  Started cold as hell and I was forced into my Elmer Fudd hat.  We went 2 for 5 and had a good time.  The fog lifted and the sun came out for the afternoon.” Dave Heller aka Elmer Fudd

Maglip fish

Posted: October 25, 2019 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

This was my last fish before the high water. Taken on a casted Maglip. Size and color undisclosed haha. Seriously though big thanks to Jason Resser for his tutelage with plug fishing. He’s changed my game.

As far as what’s up next? Time to do new things. The coast perhaps. I’m done locally though.

Thanks for your support.

More October chrome…

Posted: October 16, 2019 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

It’s been an amazing last month of fishing on my local home river. The Lewis. Known as the ‘North Fork’ locally, the Lewis is a river that can produce a spectrum of salmonid species on the same day. Often using the same methods.

With nearly 20 fish hooked the last month, The Diamond Back has been holding it’s own among a sea of jet sled guides looking for the same bounty.

Here are some more photos from a few trips…with some video to come at month’s end to celebrate the success.

Special thanks to my fishing partners helping make these trips happen. You know who you are.

September Chrome

Posted: September 14, 2019 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

It’s that time of year on my home river. The time when you never know which species you might hook into during your float down the river.

It could be up to four species on any given day. Today it was three. That we know of. Who knows what those bigs ones were that broke my line. Or the chromer that rolled off at the boat halfway down the river.

On this river there’s always something to keep me coming back for more. For now please enjoy a few pictures of my trip with Jeff Donaca yesterday.

I fish with him more than anyone I know. He’s a local slayer and an almanac of SW WA information…but that’s not why I love him. ? Our kids are great friends and his family rocks. Thanks for sharing, Joe, and great job!!

Posted: August 20, 2019 by Hellcat in Fish Reports

You’ve seen Jay here on my blog many times before. I became acquainted with him through the Team Headrush crew from the Seattle area. He’s always been super supportive of my efforts here at Triple A and HUGE hats off to him for sharing this pic of some early fall slabbage 2019. This fish was taken on hardware. Thanks Jay and keep spreading the word!
