Right where they should be….

April 6th, 2010

Sometimes the fish are right where they should be, but not often. And sometimes Sal Monid will go out finesse fishing for steelhead and hook 4 of them. All chrome and fresh.

Sometimes we all get to have a day on the river that is above average. Not to say that any day on the river is not exceptional, because it is. But really I am talking about those days that just give you that swagger you need to keep banging metal. Salmon or steel. No matter. Swagger makes it better.

In that same spirit of intraspection; think of what a difference a day can make. We’ve all been there one day late or one day early. Sometimes it’s your turn to kick some ass and take some names. That’s just the law of angling rotation. If you fish long enough, it will happen. Probably.

Well these pictures aren’t from anything more spectacular than a really good day. Make that….a really good ‘half day’ of fishing. Over a half dozen fish all chrome and all hatchery. But what made the day exceptional was the company: Rob “Shorty aka Short Dog” Hammill was in the house and walking the river with Sal and I. The surprise came when two other TS contributors saw our rig on the river and hiked down to find us…..Big Burge and Nookslayer.

Although Sal and I would land four for the seven hooked….we did so in all new water……well almost all new, anyway. Thanks to info shared with me by Big Jake aka J Money Reardon & Brennan The Brick Ingram this year I’ve been able to add some new spice to my game. What a half day of fishing yesterday was.

I don’t know what to say…I was short a bonker.

We’ve been using some new methods….new to us anyway….that are really producing. I’ll be doing an Op Ed on the subject of simplicity versus complexity when it comes to steelhead tributary finesse angling.

Thanks again guys!

You don’t have to be Legacy Team Salmon to get your fish picture or video posted on Allaroundangler.com.

Just email me the content and I’ll set it up. Steve Lynch did. He has a few times now.

Great work, Steve. Congrats on hooking over twenty two fish this year so far.
