Allaroundangling new-comer…Mindy……

March 17th, 2010

If you follow this blog then you know I am constantly encouraging people to email me content for the website. A GREAT BIG THANKS to reader, Mindy, who really stepped up the game with this great, to the point, totally respectable picture story with words from the angler for me as well!! Well freaking done.

I am well aware that 98% of you out there reading this would never send something in. You’re getting better though. More of you are stepping up.

There isn’t an exclusivity here as much as there is a desire to teach and learn about fishing and all of the methods that might entail.

In this spirit….and contrary to my earlier point….new-comer “Mindy” (we’ll have to find a handle for her…unless she has her own) has submitted a picture story for us. Thanks a ton, Mindy and welcome!

Words from the angler…..

“The chum salmon fishing was last fall in the Puget Sound area. That was cool because the creeks up there are so affected by the tide, so when we arrived in the morning, I was wading through deep water. But, by the end of the day, most of the creek had receded and I was wading through deep mud!

The shad fishing was an experience because we when we went, we bought some lures at the store and thought we would give it a try. But when we got there, there was a crowd of experienced folks who knew how to snag them. One of the guys on the shore watched what we were doing and kind of laughed at us.

Then, he walked over and handed us some of his lures and told us that those would work. Well, they did! It was great to receive impromtu advice from people that like to help out the newbies.” Mindy

Underwater pictures encore…

March 17th, 2010

These were all taken with the Olympus Stylus Tough 8000 which is really affordable a year later. Every river anlger ought to have one of these cameras…..capture that stuff, you know? Send it in to Allaroundangler.com.

It took all three of us to capture these photos while keeping our hands off these wild fish.

Photo crew is Jake Reardon, Mark Murray and myself.

Of course what you cannot see here is the perfectly cured and tipped, “Brick Shrimp”, that the fish has already inhaled. I swear one of these fish was chewing on the shrimp as it dove down jig in mouth…..

AND THE MYSTERY TRIVIA PICTURE: What are you looking at here? Just rocks? A flukey pic by Mark aka Ghost Face that turned out pretty cool.
