The Marching Bear
March 12th, 2010
Boy oh boy. How many times this year has Bear saved the day with some great content to contribute. Here he is again. This time….on a fly rod. I may have never met someone who excelled so quickly at river angling and doing so among many methods. Great dedication Bear.
Words and picture from the angler….
“Well it was a good day, went out twice, did a ton of walking and
standing. I had one up to the point the net was deployed and popped
the leader, not nearly as many fish in the morning as the afternoon
(saw at least 6 landed). Its been a great year so far for me and I
really want the challenge of the fly, especially after attending the
Drift and Rise Fly Festival last night. I still suck at casting, but
the one good cast I made was all it took to hook into a pissed off
chrome hen. What fun it is to hook into a fish, let alone a steelhead
on the fly. She hit the clown egg below a big wooly bugger and it was
a blast. Cant wait to do that again. Now I need some casting lessons
to make me a better fly guy, not that I am going to give up on the
drift and float gear anytime soon.
