Video clip of a near blooper today on the water. Absolutely an instant classic.

Back to back hatch

February 4th, 2010

It’s not often a guy gets hatchery fish two trips in a row.

Especially not in the kind of sh*t we’re hiking into.

Got a movie and post coming but thought I’d share a cool pic from today.

This fish was taken in unlikely fashion….not a jig fish….I’ll explain more later.

Sometimes ’simple’ can be simply effective.

Gettin’ Jiggy wit it…..

February 4th, 2010

Out on a river today with Big Burge, his fly rod and a trusty casting outfit, Nookslayer managed to whack this beauty chunk of Metal with the latter.

Confreakinggratulations Nookness.

Words from the angler….”Burge and I worked hard today. Gin clear water but absolutely beautiful. We had to stalk them and mainly sight cast from distance or cover. Worked a lot of water and then started seeing fish on the way back up.

As I was wading back to the bank I saw this fish in an odd but sweet little spot behind a deep hole next to the root wad of a giant tree that had fallen. It was darting about in some really turbid water. I slowly put my things down and grabbed my rod because if i moved to quickly it would see me. I lost sight of it after my third cast and was reeling back in for another pass and WHAM! It took the jig almost at my feet. I only got to fight it for a minute or two because all I had to do was turn the rod it seemed.

It took 6 strong bonks to the head and the gills cut to finally put it down. As a thank you I received lacerations to my fingers after I thought it was dead (twice) and tried to rinse it off. The teeth before the gils got me.

Thanks to all, and especially BB for the day. This was his first coastal trip. Nookslayer
