Words from the angler….

Got off work at 2:30 today thought about going out all day got home and checked the level still real low…Decided to go out anyway. On the drive out I kept thinking about that recent post when you said The Brick reminded you the importance of stealth and speed.

Although I only had about a hour and a half to fish so I could not use the speed part….. but plan to next time I do have all day. Believe me: I will be up and down the bank chasing fish :-) .

When I got to the hole I was trying to move slow and careful not to let my rod tip go out over the water. By swinging from the side finally worked the entire drift. Fishing seams, boulders and so on…..working it all and trying to be thorough. I made a cast at about 45 let the steelie swing into the head of the break at the tail-out and bam! Shit there was no “I think I’m hung up” or anything doubt what-so-ever. It truly was a violent strike.

It was ‘hang on’ and was freaking awesome bro! No drug can get you that high and keep you feeling like that…… I love it.

His self-shot video clip will be included in the upcoming “February Steelhead”……

Grin and ‘Bear’ it

February 3rd, 2010

Bear has gone and done it again, guys. Back to back trips out with steelhead…and great fish at that. Of course, I don’t discriminate….I love them all…but chrome delights, especially back to back ‘hatches’ are far and few between. Then, throw on top of that the new method in which he caught them….and the fact it was the same spot as the previous day’s success. I can picture it now; the fish are lined up like landing airplanes to lay in that spot you’ve found. It must be like a big comfy bed to them. Until your upside-down, wacky-rigged pink worm bounces in front of their face. Absolutely great pics of the rig that worked him. Them I mean. Looking forward to your spread from today. Props to Josh Leach for the instructional on this rig (See Guide Josh’s Tips and Tricks for this and more)….
