To live in the Pacific Northwest and title yourself ‘fisherman’ encompasses a whole heck of a lot. This is a way of life. A mind-set. A mentality. It’s also a union among friends, or it should be.
There is nothing sweeter than standing on a river bank or rowing a driftboat with some of your best friends. Shoot, if it wasn’t for fishing….I dunno. I wouldn’t be here in front of you today with these great stories, pictures and movies…that’s for sure.
Yeah, for certain…fishing is definitely the thing that defines ME. River fishing, especially. Rivers are grand and mysterious. They are always living. And some of them have big ass fish in them too.
What defines you? What’s an early memory or picture capturing that memory that show us this?
Most of you out there who contribute to this blog…..either by commenting on published posts or sending in pictures or stories of you…..yeah most of you have done this your whole life. It’s second nature.
All of you have fished that ‘day of a lifetime’ trip for something or other and ALL of you had to start somewhere as a little kid, young man…whatever….and some of you (like Meskel & I) even have pics of those early days 20 years ago or more.
Here is the contest guidelines and prize information:
1) Locate a picture of yourself as a youth while fishing….send it in with or without a story. (Better to send with story)
2) This picture or story or both should explain to us WHY you think you stuck with fishing as a kid when there was always so many other things to distract you. OR …..if you’re new to fishing later in life, like recently, tell us what you like about it. What drew you to it? If you have a pic that suits the story…send it in.
