Here is Abram night fishing the Pac NW before his move to Denmark

Loving the website, you’re becoming quite the movie maker, props for that. Looks like you guys are having a killer season. I’m totally jealous.

I’ve been out almost everyday this month and have caught only three fish. Biggest was 17 inches L I’ve been throwing every fly in my box, I can say however that I have become a much better long distance caster.

I use a shooting head with a Rio slick shooter braid behind it and a casting basket for the line. It’s pretty nice to shoot 90ft out with almost no false casts. Problem is there are not that many fish. So now I pretend I’m practicing for the fly casting olympics. I figure I’ll be able use the skill once I move back to Portland . Gotta do something to keep my spirits up.

I was out this weekend on the kayak trolling everything. Flat fish , spinners, flies. Water is pretty shallow compared to the pacific about 30ft deep. There’s a lot of seaweed that gets caught on the hooks, so I have to check em all the time.( pain in the arse) I always have the camera with me so I will eventually get a good picture for you.

I figure if I keep banging away at it, I’ll eventually get something for you to post. You have any good rigging ideas for me to try? It’s like lake trolling not to deep, lots of seaweed in spots and I don’t want to be too deep or too shallow.

I’ve even tried tying a heavy spoon on with no hook ( that ‘s my flasher) , I attach a swivel to the end where the hook should be and then run one of those home made spinners you gave me before I left. It looks good but I have not caught any fish on it yet. If you have ideas for me to try let me know. I’m not that knowledgeable with all this lure shit.

I’m going to be home in March for a visit so we gotta hook up a trip somewhere. There should be a few winter fish still lurking around. Keep up the good material on the blog !!!!

Later,

Abram
