Silvers submit to H2O….

October 24th, 2009

Rolling up to the rendezvous spot 33 minutes late…I was met by two of the most friendly faces on ts. Big Burge and H2O. They weren’t bugged at all that I was running so late…and in fact looked at it as a way to get caught up. It’s a first time for them fishing together as well to my knowledge. I was stoked. And fish or no fish, I was among people I would fish with in a heartbeat any day of the week.

This was BB’s second run to the ts property and h2o’s first in a long time. Maybe over a year. Not sure. Anyhow…..from the hill above the creek we spied the water to be a ‘tea-brown’ reminiscent of coastal tribs we fish this time of year. Something about the acidity in the leaves on the ground and that first rain turning the water into this cool color.

We were on a tight leash for time and only had the am hours to make something happen. Problem is, although the rains we had were enough to bring some fresh fish up river, it wasn’t enough to relieve their TMJ.

Hmmm. Odd conditions? Low flows making the drifts tough? No problem. Call SuperJosh to fix you up. It’s easy: Walk SuperJosh to a hole or run. Tell him what you know about the drift, if anything. H2O works hard until he figures his grind. Today that grind was pinky-nail size hollow core tossed on a spinning outfit. Imagine that. Oh yeah, and again the EZ Eggs save the day. I hope you are reading this Matt and Joe of NW Guide Baits. We need another ‘package’. :-)

H2O was able to go 2 for 5 today…..with two fish lost at his feet because BB and I were across the river and could not assist in the landing. Brutal losses. But he was able to reclaim the lost fish quickly with a limit of silvers in what seemed like ten minutes. I do believe he caught a fish and on the next cast hooked another. He was groovy today while Burge and I only lost a couple. All of H’s fish were hooked on a spinning rod which was key for the high lift with almost no lead on.

For the first time….I rolled out without the Olympus. Some pics were shot on Big Burge’s media….and we’ll try to get those up. A good one of JT about to leave the hole with his limit on a stick. H2O is fishier than a sushi kitchen. Tips.
