The Jorgenator hits the CR to plunk…
April 8th, 2009
I thought for a new style of post, I would interview a friend of mine that has been plunking the big river for spring kings! John Jorgenson was nice enough to share info from his last few trips out….I thought everyone, especially the locals here in Portland, would love to see his report.
INTERVIEW WITH THE JORGENATOR:
Here’s Hunter and the Jorgenator two years ago with me for sturgeon….
JORGENATOR:
I’m ready to go…gear and all…but have been spending my fishing time either at the lake with the kid or on the channel with the Russian immigrants plunking for kings…that I haven’t caught or seen anyone else catch…
Very pleasant though…nice and peaceful out on the island from 6am to about 11am when the wife calls me home
H3llcat:
Wow, very cool you are springer fishing
Jorgenator:
Nah…I through out eggs, tuna balls, hoochies, etc…But don’t seem to do much more than that……just hanging on the bank watching the rod tip…..not sure if it actually counts as fishing
H3llcat:
Sure it does! Good for you man!
You should put up some posts on the site! Plunking reports! Do you ever see anything caught?
Jorgenator:
Nope…not to date…
Not true…the guy next to me down the bank caught a palm sized sculpin looking critter…on his salmon gear…
Kind of funny, watching the dramatic hook set…and the panicked frantic reeling…only to have him come up with the itty bitty critter
But hey…at least he was catching fish
H3llcat:
This interview will be a great post!!!! Where on Sauvie have you been
Jorgenator:
Down to the end by the water control at the wildlife area entrance…then kelly point on Monday. So both sides of the channel…from the middle…then down further toward the river merge…
Wildlife area still closed… (Posted to open 4/15) so couldn’t get much further in this weekend
Kelley point was more an excuse to get the gear wet while I played with Micah and the dog! Just chucked out a hoochie behind a spin-n-glo with some sent on it….no bites though, but I did use scent.
H3llcat:
Good report bruther
Jorgenator:
Doing what I can for allaroundangler and for the cause!
H3llcat:
Thanks for all of your time, John.
