Guys, Gavin never wanted to do anything more than fish. He was like a little kid at Christmas, even when he was sick, like here. Please take a moment and remember him with me with a short video I found of him last night that I didn’t know I had. His face is a sight for sore eyes. Cheers to all my friends and family…..Gavin reminds us that our time is not guaranteed.
The infamous ‘Landman’ lives on……….THERE ARE PICS OF GAVIN ADDED TO THE PHOTO GALLERY AS WELL…
I wanted to let anyone know who might be looking to give a guided trip to a loved one anytime soon, perhaps as a gift or bonding experience…..Please know that I encourage you to book a trip through Chris Vertopoulos at Northwest Angling Experience…..This post is a notice that Chris is our preferred guide to recommend and you can find his information by clicking on his company name, Northwest Angling Experience, located below and to your left, under ‘Blogroll’. Tight lines.
While the masses invade malls and other retail establishments on “Black Friday“, I plan on being far away from them all on a river somewhere. Which river is yet to be determined. Who else has plans to fish? I know some of you will be recovering from triptifan induced comas and spending quality time with the couch; but for those who feel like getting after it on the largest single day in retail sales let me know! I’m down to chase some chrome!
As I add photos to our Flickr gallery, I am also coming across videos here and there…….some that have never been added to the site…make sure to take a peak at some old videos from Nookslayer, H2O and Nate Hornbeak.
Visit ALLAROUND VIDEOS soon to see these and more for yourself!
Since DD has no computer, I’m representing him here a little bit to pass the info along…….didn’t figure the Wilson is any secret, hence the specific info. Cheers.
DD went with his buddy Randy to the Wilson today, and hooked a pig behind the R.V. park. Back bouncing eggs through a nice slot. He said he was in the free spool position backing down and , “Wham, Slam, Wham, Slam, Hooked,” It was on. 5 to 10 minutes later fighting the pig never to be seen, it was lost at the drift boat. Amazing action to be had by “DD” of course. I guess there was a bobber down, but to no bendadge.
I want to remind everyone to occasionally check the Photo Gallery (located down and to the left under ‘blogroll’) as I am trying to add photos to that…..some you have seen, of course, but many you have not. Usually the pictures on the posts are just representative of an entire trip…….so I use the Flickr photo gallery as a big library of pics; past and present.
There’s probably close to 600 or so pics, dating back as far as ten years…..with new pics loaded and dated as recent as the first part of this month. If you dig hard enough, you can even find pictures you’ve forgotten all about!
Thanks for continuing to come on by Allaroundangler!
I have to admit it’s been pretty damn tough being laid off and not being able to fish, for the most part. Today, after yet another interview…..I decided to crank out the rest of my fresh frozen…as well as freeze some of my more recent “LipRipper Specials” that I still had in the fridge.
I’ve got about five quarts of ‘back bouncing ready’ roe ready to go (these skeins are a little wetter than drifting eggs) as well as those four pints of LR Specials….all ready to go. The wetter eggs were cured with the commercial Yano cure…….which is a Pautzkie, of course…..and is most certainly not the ‘chronic’ cure I used to get from Mark himself fifteen years ago; but it will do.
With the Clack run supposing to be so good this season…..would it be ridiculous to anchor fish them in the Willamette like we do for Kings and Silvers in the CR? Different gear of course (although I don’t know….LR’s twenty plus was caught on a wobbler in fifty feet of water…lol….flukish, I know.
Anyway, I’m trying to decide if I should return my driftboat to free floating again…or keep it geared for gassin. What do you guys think?
As if on queue, H2O has just provided these for me…..as I mentioned ’staggering’ success in my previous post…this is my reference….low, clear water and JT pulls this thing out on some ‘good eggs’, in his words. Hey DC, where the hell is your picture? Below average, Pal. Nut up. Get me that pic. Other AAA’s need to see your chrome. Especially since I heard you are calling it a ‘30′………
Anyway, enough ‘big tonin’ on ya’ll……here’s H’s photo spread…..enjoy your Hump Day.

Hey H2O….I bet there’s a story about the fight this thing gave you huh??
So by now everyone reading this story knows someone who is having more financial challenges then they’ve ever seen. By now most of you know someone who has lost their job(s) too. If you’re like me, you’re already unemployed for God’s sake. This does not bode well for trips all the way to the beach. In fact, being jobless yet unable to use the time to fish might be one of the most frustrating things ever….of all time…..hahaha
The way to stay safe….is to stay put. Obviously. Look at the last time we all made a run together……..it becomes pretty easy to see that our economy has affected our own pocket books so much, we have to fish locally. Who can afford to make runs to the coast anymore?
With this in mind, and even considering the recent staggering success (all odds considered) of Pigsticker and H2O at the coast…..I have been thinking about some of the new stuff we can do this Winter with our new success out of our driftboats on the CR. I mean, really, we should stoked about some of things I’ve been pondering…LR….how about our potential with plugs at the mouths of tributaries and such? When does DRANO happen etc? Things like this.
I know LR will be getting his drift boat all ready to float the coastal streams etc……but I am considering keeping mine “CR Ready”, just in case. If you think about a traditionally ‘long’ day trip….and what the costs are…..we can still take some of these types of trips….by saving and planning….Hell, just look at Sal can accomplish by saving….he’s fished EVERYWHERE!
My hope is that this post may get us all thinking, talking, sharing and even planning some close-to-home trips. Maybe this season just spoiled me….but the lesson seems timely. “Stay local, find success cheap.” I admit it. I’m not only broke, I’m jaded. LOFL. Cheers.
Sincerely,
The Job Hunting Fisherman and your very own Team Salmon Captain. Over and Freaking Out.
