BAMBINO BREAKER

September 17th, 2008

So I dont have the story telling skills as HELLCAT, but I’ll try and explain my curse breaker.

So we get the call shortly after we put in to come down River and anchor next to DD. Our decision was made very quickly once we learned hed already boated a 20lber.

After a good 30min cruise down River we find DD. With a failed anchor attempt next to DD, due to not enough rope we had to improvise and find shallower water. We ended up finding a good spot in between two hog lines and a little closer to the bank than our first attempt. Holding beautifully we start our day.

After a couple hours of watching a couple fish hooked, Hell and I start to discuss what should be moved in the boat for accessibility and what each of us will do once we get a fish on(HELL, LOBES, SAL). I notice a lot of gear on my side of the boat that could pose some issues if I were to hook one, so we move everything to the front of the boat and continue fishing. Thank Gawd for planning ahead…(rare for Hell and I, mind you).

Not ten minutes after moving the gear out of my way my rod tip looks like its in hurricane IKE; violently jumping up and down! After waiting for this moment for well over a year, I pick up my rod and set the hook, not once but twice, WAS NOT about to try to lose this one.

Since we weren’t actually in one of the hog lines we didn’t have to throw anchor. I decided to try to play the fish IN the current and UP to the side of the boat. This fish was like nothing I’ve fought in a long time, hard to due the fight justice and explain how hot this fish was. It was so hot, in fact, that I backed my drag off and told myself I had all day, DONT HORSE IT LOBES!!!!!!

A few minutes later, as my feet were shaking and my heart was pounding. I was zoned in. I got it pretty close to the boat, just close enough to see that its a pig, and gone, peel city man. I was little worried with my Curado, and 20lb test. Yikes. I had it on my 9 foot heavy Cert Pro though. Kick ass rod. Anyway, I was so excited and zoned in on this fight that literally you forget everything else that’s around you.

After 3 more of these teases by this fish, all the way to the boat, and gone, all the way…and gone…..I was beginning to think I was either going to run out of strength or yell “Sal throw the anchor”. Luckily the fourth time I brought it up Master netter HELLCAT swooped that bad boy! And let me tell you, the feeling of seeing that fish in the net was like 500lbs lifted of my shoulders, or a phone call from Jessica Beil to come over and stay the night!

The excitement of playing that fish is why i keep going out, along with the great people! Funny how fast you forget such an epic drought after a fight like that.

Tight lines guys, B
