Grateful Anglers
September 14th, 2008
One, Two, Three….humbly.
Team Salmon big shout out to LipRipper and Skin aka Salmon 1 aka DD aka Todd…for all the help getting us in the groove of things.
Todd Peterson
My new favorite word is……..wait for it……wobbler. Alvin or Clancy…doesn’t matter. When you’re with ToDD either one works. It was great to fight a fish a day or two out of salt. These fresh fish have so much strength.
Clock rang thankfully…..this beautiful, hard fought hen went low 20’s and had some serious shoulders….much respect…
Remember what I said my new favorite word is? Wobbler remember? Well they EVEN work for 20 lb Steelhead that leave a guy scratching his head…..scratching with wonder and joy, of course…LOL….Much Congratulations to LipRipper with the BIGGEST Hatchery Steelhead I’ve ever seen in person. Holee Farg.
LipRipper with his 20lb Hatchery Steelhead from Pretend Steelhead-Land. WOW…I mean WOW!
Shorty and I needed to connect with twenty-plus pound…well thirty in his case…. silver bullet Kings with necks like Dorados in order to calm our souls. Calm? Captain Todd is always calm. Dusty too. Nice work guys. And now…..Well yes I am calm too, thank you very much. Back to back successful trips for me after fishing 9 times in 14 days could not feel any better.
Shorty’s Massive Chrome Attack
Big Props to Rob “Shorty” Hammill for getting back to his roots and busting a 30 plus pound up river bright after ONEHELLUVA battle and a smooth operator on the net (duh..me) we were able to come to the preferred end game.
Rob Hammill’s 30 Plus Summer King!
The DD North River was done today by 9AM. A reunion for Shorty and I Salmon fishing together and one for him and Todd as well. Welcome back to the Pac NW Rob, and welcome to Team Salmon, Todd!!
A little history for anyone who doesn’t know about me and the Shortman……..I’ve known this kid since 1980, when I was six years old and moved to Portland from Eugene.
By then I had already caught a four plus pound sea run Cutty as well as numerous Bass and Pannies….He had grown up fishing as well and by the end of high school we had grown up together fishing everywhere from here to Montana and all places in between.
We fished out of two different boats…a John Boat at one point and a 13 foot closed bow fiberglass that yielded Big Tone his first Springer in the Willamette and also later bought by Tone. Lots of history there. Big Tone too. All of us for that matter. Man, that sure is something. Always is nice fishing with ya’ll fellas.
Rob was with me when I caught my very first King ever, at fourteen years old at Herman Creek..that was twenty years ago….and we really haven’t Chinook fished together in the last ten years…..let alone RIP LIPS and STAPLE JAWS like we did. I just can’t give DD a big enough ‘reach around’ for getting us out there together. Cheers, props, kudos, high fives and handshakes…
