Fishing Reports..past five days or so…
September 7th, 2008
We’ve had the Columbia River Chinook season open for seven days now….it may only stay open through Tuesday; we should know something tomorrow.
I’m learning something on every trip…….AND learning new and effective techniques that work for others….Special thanks to LipRipper for his ongoing tutelage with my boat endeavors…and for Todd “Double D, Rootwad Todd” Peterson for his awesome guided trip this weekend. You guys should see this beautiful 2007 Northriver open bow of Todd’s we fished out of. What a fishing wet dream.
I have fished four times in 7 days…a different place each time. I hooked my first King on a wobbler AND on trolling a large rainbow spinner. I wasn’t fortunate enough to land either fish: However, although the first one I hooked on Saturday came off early (after slashing across Captain Todd’s line…braid to braid popperoo) the second fish I hooked this weekend was today on the troll. It was lost AT the boat. My point is they’re getting closer to IN the boat.
Pops had a Birthday last week and Mom and I gave him his new backbouncing/trolling rod and reel this morning before the trip. He didn’t get a bend but he just about got to perform a net job. Just about.
Big PROPS to Big Tone for boxing a beautiful 17 lb nickel hen…and a somewhat smaller props to me for the slick slice of a net job. Great work Tone. Oh, I can’t forget LipR and his 0 fer today as well. I’ll let him expand on his tale if he wishes….Pees Hellcat
