Whats Been Happening!!!!

No fishing for me this weekend guy’s…Did the girlfriend thing down at the beach house in Longbeach it was terrific. Not much was going on down in the Estuary except Sturgeon fishing Saturday.
Just wanted to let you fella’s know that the fishing is still pretty good around the Tillamook area. I have had some great success recently fishing the Jaws and will continue to head down there through July and August.
Summer Chinook on the Nehalem mixed with good amounts of silvers are the typical there. Few hints for success are a cut plug green label on a 7ft leader and a 24″ lead line. Make sure to brine your herring to toughen them up some.
It makes them last longer and gives a much better presentation. Otherwise the strong current makes them look pretty janky real quick.Tide and current get going real good so bring an assortment of lead.
10oz is the minimum and a strong incomming may need upwards of 16oz. You want to start with 10oz to keep it under the boat because the space to fish is very limited and it tends to get crowded when the fish are in.The key is to get it on the bottom and give it 2-3 cranks up!!!! Check it often to make sure your in the zone and keep the grass of the bait. I like to fish two hours of incomming, the high slack and two hours of the out going. I know what your thinking “the outgoing?”
Fellas I get most of my fish on the outgoing and I usually have the entire place to myself!!! Please be careful down there and stay way clear of the north jetty!!! Its pretty dangerous over there.
Have a good one and if your headed down there soon drop me a line and maybe we can drown some bait together!!!
