Team Salmon Sighting…Gavin Back at Home!!
January 13th, 2008
As a few us remain dutiful to the Team, we made another assault for Steelhead this weekend. Conditions were completely different from one week ago, when we couldn’t find enough water, and hope was high. Or at least; peaked.
Stuck in some kind of drenching micro-climate apparently hovering over the Clackamas River, Murr, Richey, Meskel and I rounded the property twice over. I took advantage of the full circle hike when I realized I had left my worm threader (used for my plastics) at Sal’s Run our first time there!
We had the kind of day that will be a memorable event even without fish just due to all the extreme conditions. Between hiking through all that thick underbrush with blackberry riddled trail entrances and exits, we had a helluva blast. We saw a lot more people than ever before. Not a good sign, especially with the apparent ‘less fish than usual’ type of numbers.
Pops had been down here the day before, with a friend of his, and they were unable to find water low enough to fish well for them. We didn’t have that problem the next day, although I’ve noticed that since some of the runs have been carved out with high water, it’s narrowed a couple of boxes that used to tail out very nicely. With all those dudes, I’m pretty surprised. That’s not what you want to see.
GAVIN GOT TO GO HOME THIS WEEK! That’s really the only update that matters as we are all so grateful that he is able to be in his home with his family….I know they are SO EXCITED!
I want to thank Richey and Murray for helping out over at Gavin’s house on our way home from the river. That was an above average effort boys. We saw him again today (Sunday) and Mila, Sal, B Dog and I helped out some more. Keep the prayers and positive energy coming Gavin’s way as he needs it more than ever!
