another lack luster trip…
January 4th, 2008Wednesday I decided that work was not for me and headed to the Hoodie. I was armed with my trusty TFO Jim Teeny 8wt and an arsenal of bugs I tied the night before. I was able to fish a lot of water (which was absolutly perfect) but didn’t touch any fish. After talking to a fish and game person who showed me a photo of a 20lb winter fish taken the day before I do have hope.
On the walk back to the car I did see several dusty coho and one tapioca chinook that had found their final resting place in a small channel through the center of an island. They were still swimming but not long in the tooth. The nook was as red as a fire truck which I haven’t seen before. It does make me think that we should give this river a shot other than winter steel.
To top the fact that I was actually out and fishing, I got the text from Maritza that Gavin was now doing much better (as shown by Heller’s post below). That was enough to make the fishless, although beautiful day a bright one. Gavin, we can’t wait to have you back on the water. Get well soon.
