Prepping for CHINOOK (Coho and winter Steel)

Prepping for CHINOOK (Coho and winter Steel)

October 6th, 2008

So the season is almost upon us and for those of us who choose the fly rod as our weapon it is time to properly stock our ammunition.  I am thinking about getting some of us together to tie some deadly patterns to swing, drift and skate in front of the elusive winter steel.  Please let me know who would like to attend and we can plan it.

Here’s to a productive winter season!

  1. What about Kings? We haven’t even started at Tilly yet dude. I can say that I DO look forward to catching Steelhead on a fly rod this winter. Seems like right after the last of the King fishing at the coast we start that……second weekend in December or so??

  2. I second that, I’m all over Kings on the coast! With the means we have now, I couldn’t see doing anything else. I do enjoy hitting the hood on those super cold days to chase steel.

I wouldn’t mind getting out my rusty fly rod some day and re-learning how to use it again, but its not time yet to pretend I’m Brad Pitt in a River Runs Through It, its BIG FISH TIME!!

  3. I plan on taking the fly rod for kings too this year but I am just looking forward to catching some more fish! It’s almost Tilly time and we need to get some trips planned

  5. I would love to have a gear up geek out and plan a trip as well. Heller you down with this? It would be fun to get things ready for the coast trip as well as plan some. I nominate Hellcat’s pad as the locale.
