Trip # 16
October 5th, 2008
Well, after 16 trips since September 1st, I’ve created enough statistics for myself..to try to look at the “how, what, when, where, why” to find out why certain minor changes….that basically aren’t even a change to most…in order to find those subtle differences that might help a guy catch a fish. Who ever knows if any of the changes every really make a difference. I just feel like today, they might’ve.
Two for Two on my new Lammy Classic Glass. This rod is Ganster for sure. As limp as a horse whip. Strong as one too. Part of a subtle change; yes. A pattern? Probably not. But who knows. Still 2000 Kings a day going over. The fat lady ain’t squeaked yet. What else catches fish? I don’t know, but 16 trips in less than 5 weeks…..that’s a lot of fishing and probably has to have something to do with it.
I think only DD has put in more time. And, I tell you what …it has flown by…it’s seemed like a week of fishing is all we’ve had. This extension has been so rad.
Then again, all we are ever doing is ‘guessing’. We should call it ‘guessing’ instead of fishing. I will only say that today, I feel like LipRip and I figured something out. Thanks to ToDD, no doubt. Anyway, just a chunk of my cerebral to go with a few pics from today. Tight Lines, Hookers.

Nice lookin fish! Glad i could take one for the team and not get a pic of my native to remind you to get a pic of your native. My only regret from this king season is not getting out more. Its amazing the little things you learn each time you wet your line that make such difference. I feel with my 3 trips ive not only learned a ton but gained the confidence back, after such a drought. Thank you to H3ll and DD for taken me out, and gettin me into fish, nothin funner, maybe an FDC while bumping my chin in a hot tub with JLO or somethin, pees B

It has been an amazing season and the rod you speak of must be one of the subtle changes that make the difference. I know how and why that rod works better for how we are fishing thanks to LR, and it makes sense.
Due to life changes I have only been able to get out on 2 trips to the 16 you’ve all logged but I feel like I figred somethigns out too. 2 trips, 2 fish. Not bad for this guy. Somethings I’ve learned for success are: Go in Dusty’s boat and have your rod on the right side, how and where to rig your setup, and the more you fish the better your chances. Rocket science? No. Difference maker? Probably.
As the winter season approaches I am gettign excited to head to our other spots and have more chances at other runs of fish. Here’s to our continued success!

B Dog you got that right! I remember how tragic it was that we didn’t get a picture of your HUUUUUGE native Silver……that fish would’ve gone 16 all day long. Nice work on that fight too. You’ve picked up your fish fighting game big time. Congrats on going 2 for your last 2 trips…
Thanks for always contributing, Rich. Seriously. Now have Meskel tie you a herring trolling rod. Trick him or something. LOL.

It is great to see the fruits of your guys labor. I will have to chalk up this season as one big learning experience. I was 0 for 8 trips and honestly can’t say what I did right or wrong. It is definitely a great way to fill up the humility jug. I did however do damage on the Upper Green River in Wyoming. That will be the subject of a future post. Reassuring to affirm that I can still catch fish. Sal

excellent work on the two fish to the boat this weekend.
Who were you with? How did it go at the property? Is it Tillamook time yet?

Man, JT. I forgot what a beast you got there. Say, nice contribution on the comment man. Thanks. I was starting to get a little whiney that nobody had really propped my two fish day. Word man. I got them both on my new ALL GLASS retro Lammy….8′9″ and rated to 30lb…..it really lets that wobbler wiggle. Was on sale for fifty bucks at fisherman’s. Wish I would have bought two. So, we in for Saturday river fishing?

ToDD! Too cool of you to chime in and contribute. I will be changing the ‘About’ page to more accurately represent WHO team Salmon really is. It’s changed a bit over the years. Cheers…and welcome aboard ToDD.
Hey man, are JT and I going to hop in your boat….or should we take mine?
