The Boys Chase Dust, Minimal Success
October 29th, 2007Just a quick update that as I continue my rampage around the Pac NW with Lobey in search of something chrome, post Croatia, I remain goose-egged.
Lobey and I daisy-chained it across a very murky Sandy River, post Marmot blow-out, only to find a graveyard of dead, and half dead boots errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Silvers.
There was a little fat kid that had a snagging spot he was sitting down at and gigging dying, dark fish. Proceeding to ‘bonk’ said gigged, dark fish. All the while being fed cigarettes by his big, weird Greek buddy. Ahhh, the wonders of meat-hole Coho fishing.
We did run into Brent aka Magicsoul and his buddy, Paul. We sat and roundtabled the day before he and Brent went downriver to Brent’s ’spot’. We got word a little later, as we were on the way to see Gavin, that Brent got a couple………no idea on the shape of the fish.

I think those guys must be working for a chinese restaurant… It seems that with the dam removal that the fishery as we know it may have changed forever. I’m curious to see what happens. Anoth nice post bud. I would love to get out with you soon.

I will put up a video of the removal as well. Aside from the immediate silting of the river, the long term effect is a huge victory for wild fish and the lovers of wild fish. All in all, I think more dam removal would be good for the long run. Hatchery guys won’t ever like stuff like this though. Course, that’s why they’re hatchery guys.

Will this open up other fisheries on the river now and create more fishable water?
