It’s always steelhead season…

Steelhead season. It’s always steelhead season. Today. Midst the pounding sheets of rain and the high blue sky sun breaks our jackets came on and off all day long. Here’s a pic of the fish and the release. Special thanks to: Donaca.

Exerpt:

C: Holy shit Donaca.

D: You got him?

C: Oh yeah. He’s going man. We may have to chase. You ready to pull anchor and row like hell?

D: I’m on it.

And man he was. Donaca flipped on the camera with one hand…pulled the anchor quickly and steered us downriver in chase of the submariner sulking steel. Not only did I stick him with the net job. I gave him a net with a notoriously gaping hole in it. It’s notorious. Meaning I should have fucking fixed it by now.

And this fish found it’s way through the hole. Spitting the spinner in the process. While we pressed up to the rock wall bank in a swirl of chinook hover water.

Anyhow…I should have some footage to pour through. It was just Donaca and I and the camera was set down for a good portion of one of the clips.

Classic. That was a big dude. I bet you had fun with the fight. Sal

Hahaha….thanks for the comment Pops! I watched the video and it’s pretty classic. At one point Donaca put the camera down face up right underneath me as I was landing the fish. I should be able to get some neat stills out of that.

I really enjoyed that trip, Donaca. Happy to take you again anytime. You handled that drama like a pro.

Looking forward to seeing Part two showing what can be done while everyone else is Springer fishing. Beautiful float and pretty fair action = fun time.
