Special contributor Keith Danziger has something very special to share with us All Around Anglers today and I’m happy to congratulate him on what was the best day of striper fishing he’s had in 35 years of chasing them.

“Chris,

Hope you are well. Had the best day of my life in 35 years of striper fishing. It was sick. 36 fish in 5 hours. 4 shorts at under 28″ (one runt about 22″). 32 fish over 32″. 15 over 40″.

Put six at around 20lbs to 30lbs in the box for a limit by 6:30 am an hour and a half after launching and traveling for a half hour to the rips. Personal best on a lure – 44″ on a 7″ soft plastic lure appropriately called the Bill Hurley Striper Magnet. We put her back to fight another day. here she is.

Did not a achieve a personal overall best because a 45lb fish took a topwater spook lure and after running about 100yds I was worried about getting spooled so I tightened the drag and the hooks – yes both trebles, got straightened out. It was wild. Yes those are sealice. They like stripers just as much as salmon.

We will fish when I am back in Oregon. Maybe the mojo will still be with me.

Keith Danziger”

So rad! Love to hear “best day ever” stories. Most people don’t know how much that means to an AllAroundAngler.

    Ain’t that the truth, Jason.

  3. wow…….that is a serious striper

  4. Amazing….days like that are what we live for. Memories made for sure.
That striper fishing sure looks like a good time. Any time you can get a 45# fish to commit to a topwater is an underwear changing good time 🙂 🙂
