There’s a new sheriff in town…..

Randy Blackburn gave half his life to law enforcement. I always find it very interesting when I meet people who were or who currently are in law enforcement. I get the same feeling for Service people. Something about people who lay down their lives for the safety of those around them just blows me away. I respect the heck out of the work they accomplish every single day while most of us stay concerned about household bills, cholesterol and sex drive.

Seriously though….before resetting the man I’ve always known as The Steelhead Slayer (he used to have a huge windshield sticker saying as much) I just wanted to thank him for all his years in law enforcement trying to make this world a better place. Honestly, I don’t know how much he would want me to share but I will say that Randy Blackburn continues to give back to those around him to this day through fostering youth and helping them become better people.

I thought it was important I paint a little picture for you readers out there of this man I respect and admire so much. And on that note……Randy floated a coastal river the other day and tied my personal best on the season with 5 steelhead caught. 4 hatchery and 1 native. Exactly the same outcome of my best #’s day this winter steel season. He’s got a lot of wisdom when it comes to our steelhead rivers and I hope someday he’ll write something up for all of us to read and learn from. Here is The Steelhead Slayer with one of those beauties from the other day. Oh yeah….and thanks for the Hat order Randy. I hope it fits. I KNOW it will look good on you.

Now all Randy needs to do is sign up for the Springer Tournament and he’ll be up here on the site again soon….I’m sure of it.

My kind of guy. Nice day on the river and that is a beautiful steelhead. It would be good to see how you look with a 20# springer. Sal

    Way to go, Randy!
