Michael Myhre (pronounced My-Ree) will now be referred to only as “The Extinctionist.”

Ling report by Michael Myhre

We fished out of Charlston, myself, Bob, Chris, and Jim. Most the fish were between 300 and 340 feet on a few high spots. The closer to 300 feet the better.

The big females were through spawning and moved off the nests to let the males games em. We caught all our fish on hand poured oversized chartreuse twin tail grubs.

The Bigger size seems to keep the yellow eye and other rockfish off so we didn’t waste time reeling them in 300 feet. I switched to a single tail and immediately caught a yellow eye and and that was our only fish other than lings.

Ocean was flat with about 4 foot swells. We enjoyed 62 degrees, light breeze at times with sunny skies. It was a great day on the water.

Capt. Uncle Bob and the dead lings…

The Extinctionist lives in Southern Oregon and is an avid archery hunter and fisherman. He’s also one of the funniest dudes I’ve ever met.
