Steelhead Fishing Yarnie..

There are three good reasons I can think of off the top of my head for not wanting an egg loop above your multi-colored yarn ball:

1) The water is open to Artificial Only regulations.

2) You’re tying them to fish off of a fly rod or extremely light spinning rod.

3) Typically, you would just rather not use bait for whatever reason. Hey, I hear that ALL the time.

So if you fall into those categories or even one I haven’t mentioned and would like to learn how to tie a perfect little loop less, multi-colored yarn ball…then check out this tutorial.

Tools you need: Miracle Thread, multiple colors of fat steelhead yarn, sharp fine pointed scissors….and of course hooks that you’ll run through the center of your yarn ball as the very last step. Unlike the looped yarn ball….you’ll be tying this one without the leader attached.

Cool vid brother. How do you tie these up around a 1/0 hook? Do you insert the hook after the yarnie is formed?

Exactly, Traveler. You’re going to stab the point of the hook through the Miracle Thread center you created with your initial wraps. It’s best with a larger hook like that to dab it with some super glue once positioned….otherwise it slips down to the bend of the hook.

Thanks for the question, man. I wish we’d get more of these.

Ah ha,,,the super glue will do the trick,,,Eddy showed a bunch he made a couple weeks ago on river AK,,he added some sparkle strips in the middle that tailed out past the hook bend,,looked frigging professional for sure
